Jamia Senior Secondary School and Jamia Middle School organized Gandhi Trophy Inter School Competition and Nehru Trophy Inter School Competition respectively on the occasion of 102nd Foundation Day of the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI).
The Gandhi Trophy Inter School Competition and cultural events were held on 29th October, 2022 pm in the Multipurpose Hall of the school. JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar graced the occasion to encourage students & teachers present in the programme and appreciated the cultural shows and events presented during the programme.
The Chief Guest of the event Prof. Naheed Zahoor (Head, IASE ) was welcomed by the principal of the school Prof. Jasim Ahmad. Prof. Naheed Zahoor is one of the alumni of the school, shared her enriched experiences of school days and reminded the students about the ethos and culture of JMI. Then came the scintillating and beautiful performance by the tiny tots of the Mushir Fatima Nursery School which received a standing ovation from the audience.
In his address Prof. Jasim Ahmad reminded all the teachers, students and parents about the prime objectives of JMI for which it was established and advised to take a pledge to work in that direction.
The three major events that took place were Ghazal Sarai, Bait-Bazi and Ad-Mad-World, each being equally successful and entertaining. Multiple schools competed in all the three events and the Anglo Arabic Sr. Sec. School with the most wins was declared the winner of the Gandhi Trophy.
Jamia Middle School, JMI, organised the Nehru Trophy Inter-School Competition on October 31, 2022, in the Multipurpose Hall of the Jamia Sr. Sec. School. It was a colourful inter-school competition with events like Fancy Dress, Action Song, Hasya Kavita and Poster Making Competition. The topic for Fancy Dress was Daily Needs while for Poster Making it was Sustainable Environment.
Jamia Middle School or as it was originally known as ‘Madrasa-e-Ibtedaai’ also showcased the past beautifully through a role play based on the founders of JMI, presented by the tiny tots of the school.
The Guests of Honour were Prof Ghazanfar Zaidi, former Professor of Department of Fine Arts, JMI, Prof G.C. Pant, Department of Sanskrit, JMI and Prof. Naheed Zahoor, HoD, Department of IASE, JMI A special guest, Mr Mohd Shamim, had come all the way from Kolkata to be a part of the programme. He is an alumnus of Jamia Middle School of the 1964 batch.
Different schools of Delhi participated in the event. Syed Abid Husain Senior Secondary School won the Running Nehru Trophy. There were two judges for each event, and they were from different departments of JMI.
Distinguished guests from JMI also graced the occasion. They praised the students as well as the teachers of JMS for organizing such a beautiful program. The function ended with a vote of thanks presented by the Headmaster of the Middle School Mr Iqbal Ahmed Khan.
